Statistical Consulting and Training Service (SCTS) provides affordable expert support in data analysis, guidance, and training across a wide range of statistical and data-focused fields. We partner with businesses, academic institutions, government agencies, research centres, higher-degree research students, and individual researchers to assist with data comprehension, analysis, interpretation, and report writing.

Our services encompass experimental design, data collection methodology, data analysis, report preparation, and predictive modelling.

Additionally, we provide workshops, courses, and personalized training in areas such as data analytics, foundational and multivariate statistics, biostatistics, machine learning, advanced data modelling, and software training (e.g., R, Jamovi, SPSS).

Our mission is to empower clients with the expertise needed for independent data analysis, fostering data-driven decision-making and enhancing analytical skills.

More About the Team

Professor Dr. Jahar Bhowmik

Professor Jahar Bhowmik is a distinguished statistical consultant with over three decades of experience in applied statistics, biostatistics, and data science. He earned his PhD in Applied Statistics and Econometrics from Monash University, Australia, and is currently a senior academic at Swinburne University of Technology. His expertise encompasses statistical modelling, data analysis, and research design, with a proven track record of supporting research in public health, economics, and environmental studies.

Dr. Bhowmik’s research interests are diverse, spanning Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistical Inference, Health Data Modelling, Econometrics, Time Series, Experimental Design, and Higher Education. At Swinburne, he provides statistical consulting services to HDR students, staff, and external clients, along with customized training workshops in statistical methods. He is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programs, covering areas such

Dr. Bhowmik supervises PhD and master’s research in fields including public health, experimental design, and health-related data modelling. A productive researcher, Dr. Bhowmik has published extensively in high-impact journals such as PLOS ONE, Health Services Research, Autism Research, and BMJ Open. With around 100 peer-reviewed articles and five book chapters to his credit, he often contributes as a lead or senior author. His current research focuses on evaluating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and improving the quality of life for older adults with dementia in aged care settings. Additionally, he serves as a guest editor and reviewer for several high-impact journals.


Raaj Kishore Biswas

Raaj Kishore Biswas is a biostatistician and an R enthusiast. He works as a Biostatistician (Research Fellow) at the Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney in the Physical Activity, Lifestyle, and Population Health team. He is also a research biostatistician (part-time) at the Clinical Research Centre of Sydney Local Health District in NSW Health. His primary work focuses on dealing with health data modelling, analysis of large cohort and randomized trials as well as providing statistical consultation for multifaceted health research.

Raaj’s current area of interest focuses on lifestyle behavioral factors and the early prevention of non-communicable diseases. He regularly collaborates with colleagues across globe to work on biostatistics and public health projects, particularly focusing on the health care system and service accessibilities in developing countries.

Dr. Pragalathan Apputhurai

Dr. Pragalathan [Prahan] Apputhurai is a seasoned statistical consultant with over a decade of experience in applied statistics and data science. He holds a PhD in Applied Statistics from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, where he currently serves as an academic. His expertise lies in statistical modelling, data analysis, and data modelling, with a strong research portfolio spanning psychometrics, public health, and environmental studies.

Dr. Prahan offers comprehensive statistical consulting services to HDR students, university staff, and external clients. He also conducts tailored training workshops in statistical software, including R. As an educator, he teaches statistics in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with a focus on leveraging R for data analysis and statistical modelling.
